Hoosic RiverWalk

Hoosic RiverWalk

As part of our commitment to community engagement and placemaking, we hope to create a riverwalk along the Hoosic in North Adams.

This 5-mile walk would run along both the North and South branches of the river, connecting cultural, recreational, and ecological landmarks in North Adams.

Community Access:

We often hold community events, like our River Walks and our annual Hoosic River Run, along the planned route to encourage engagement with the river. Often these events have a focused activity such as sketching the sights and animals or collecting trash from the route.

Looking Forward

We are excited about the future of our RiverWalk! Throughout this process, we have been in collaboration with local design group ARCADE to help develop ideas about what this riverwalk could be. At one of our riverwalk events in the fall of 2025, architects Tessa Kelly and Chris Parkinson brought prototypes for flags to be made and installed along the river’s path through North Adams. Stay tuned for more updates on what our RiverWalk could look like as this process proceeds!

Want to explore on your own?

We have created an interactive map that shows the route of the riverwalk divided into walkable sections. On the website, you are able to toggle on different categories, such as history, ecology, and culture, to see pins explaining the significance of various locations along the riverwalk route.
