 Hosts: Unites States Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) (New York District) and the City of North Adams

 Location: Hybrid – North Adams City Hall and Zoom

GOAL OF THE STUDY: To reduce flood risk to the North Adams community by rehabilitating, replacing, or removing aging flood risk management infrastructure, while leveraging opportunities for aquatic ecosystem restoration and community recreation. The focus of this study is to reduce flood risk to public infrastructure; important societal resources, such as Massachusetts Museum of Contemporary Art (MASS MoCA) and historic properties; disadvantaged communities; and the broader local community and to reduce economic and social impacts from riverine flooding from the Hoosic River in North Adams, Massachusetts.

GOAL OF THE LISTENING SESSION: To review and obtain feedback from stakeholders and City residents on problem areas along the Hoosic River within the study area (identified as reaches in this document) and flood risk management and aquatic ecosystem restoration alternatives.

OBJECTIVES OF THE LISTENING SESSION:

1. Present to the stakeholders the study areas, potential flood risk management and aquatic ecosystem restoration measures, and present the initial array of alternatives being considered in the study.

2. Obtain relevant information from stakeholders pertaining to flood risk management and aquatic ecosystem restoration measures and alternatives along the study area reaches.
